We've had a great season of enjoying family and friends these past few months. We've been on a few adventures, had fun close to home and have thoroughly enjoyed Emmett's 2-2 1/2 year stage. It's been the most challenging, but with the highest pay off. And, not to mention, the cutest. We can't wait to have some summer adventures, as well as family trips this year that will broaden all our horizons! Just checking in here, ya know, making an appearance. So I don't feel like I forgot to do something. And so later on I can remember how I felt at this exact moment. (And this, after dealing with an almost-three-year-old who got out of bed NO LESS than 10 times last night. Paired with any excuse under the sun for doing so, yet completely unsoothable. So you have to understand how truly enjoyable life is, despite lack of sleep and frazzled nerves.) And I guess that's that. I'll be aiming to check in more often than every several months. But we'll see...we may be having too much fun to stop!

What we're reading...
This book is simply adorable. One of our recent library picks, and we're reading it several times a day! Bubba especially loves the last page when "baby" and "momma" jump in the leaves together. One of our favorites of the season:)

Toddler Owl costume Wings How-To (sort of)
So in my not-very-needle & thread-inclined world, this was a pretty big deal for me. Not only did I actually hand stitch fabrics together, but I didn't follow any directions! This makes me sound like I can do a lot more than I actually can. The sewing job was pathetic, but you can't see it!;) I got the jist of this idea from A Beautiful Mess.
One larger piece of fabric was the foundation for the wings (cut into a double wing shape). Followed by attaching half-oval shaped feathers in an overlapping pattern (I used a combo of fabric glue with a simple stitch over it for extra security; hot glue would be perfect but I didn't have a glue gun at the time!).
I sewed a quick hem at the top and slipped the ribbon through. So easy that even someone who has never sewed before can do this. Different colored "feathers" would be awesome, as well as "real" feathers from a craft store. Go to town!!!
The end result was pretty adorable. I'm going for a cutesy, happy-go-lucky style. These wings will be paired with red sneakers and khaki cords. It's such a fun combination!

BSF (Bible Study Fellowship), great for moms AND kids!
We had a blast running around the courtyard after our BSF lessons today! We were both in great moods, feeling uplifted by God's Word and beautifully caring leaders!
So blessed we get to experience this freely!
Feeling great today:)
